THE “WHO” AND “WHY” BEHIND DR. ELINA HEALTH
Conventional medicine often has one tool in the toolbox: medication. I understand the medications, but I also know there are more tools. As a board-certified physician in both family medicine and addiction medicine, I bring a rare combination of clinical precision, integrative knowledge, and genuine curiosity. I always consider not just what is wrong, but why.
After years of witnessing the gap between what patients are told and what they actually need, I created this space to share what I’ve learned about mental and emotional well-being with honest, practical information and suggestions.
Holistic health care for the concerns conventional medicine often misses.
Energy & Fatigue
Chronic tiredness is not normal; it is a signal. Understanding adrenal function, thyroid health, nutrient deficiencies, and sleep is the starting point.
Stress, Anxiety & Sleep
Cortisol dysregulation and magnesium deficiency are surprisingly common culprits behind poor sleep and persistent anxiety. There are evidence-based answers.
Women’s Hormonal Health
From perimenopause to PMS to unexplained mood changes, hormonal shifts affect everything. A whole-body perspective changes what's possible.
Brain Fog & Cognitive Health
Difficulty concentrating, memory gaps, or a feeling of mental cloudiness deserve attention and investigation.
Gut Health & Inflammation
The gut is connected to nearly everything — mood, immunity, energy, and cognition. Exploring the microbiome is often the missing piece.
Whole-Person Recovery
Addiction and mental health are not separate from physical health. Nutrition, hormones, and gut health all play a role in lasting recovery.
Physician-Curated Supplements for Mental Health, Lifestyle Medicine, and Whole-Person Wellness
NOT A CATALOG. A CONSIDERED LIST.
The supplement market is unregulated, and it’s flooded with products that make big promises but don’t deliver. Sometimes, they actually cause harm. I share only what I personally use, research, and recommend. I provide clear explanations of why and for whom each one may be helpful.
Magnesium (Glycinate or L-Threonate)
For sleep quality, anxiety support, and muscle recovery. One of the most common deficiencies in adults and one of the most impactful to address.
High-Quality Probiotic
The gut-brain connection is real. A physician-grade probiotic can support mood, immunity, and GI health in ways that over-the-counter options rarely do.
Omega-3 (EPA/DHA)
Anti-inflammatory, brain-protective, and cardiovascular. Quality and sourcing matter more here than almost any other supplement category.
Adaptogenic Stress Support
Ashwagandha, Rhodiola, and similar botanicals have genuine clinical backing for cortisol regulation and resilience when the right one is matched to the right person.
Despite the stressors in our lives, we can still support one another with good self-care and proper nourishment.
Answers to Your Questions
ABOUT HOLISTIC HEALTH & WELLNESS SUPPLEMENTS
-
Because the tools available in a traditional clinical setting are limited, and my patients deserve to know about all of them. After years of practicing conventional medicine, I've seen how often quality supplementation can support what medication alone cannot when it’s properly matched to a person’s needs. I use these supplements myself. I recommend them because I believe in them, not because I'm selling something.

Most supplement sites are built around a catalog. This one is built around education. My goal is to help you understand why a supplement might help, what the evidence actually says, and whether it makes sense for your situation. I'm a board-certified physician with fellowship training in addiction medicine. I bring a clinical lens that most wellness content simply doesn't have.
-
No, and I want to be clear about that. The educational content here is meant to inform and empower you, not replace a clinical relationship. If you're dealing with complex, ongoing health concerns, please work with a provider who can evaluate you personally. If you're in the Pacific Northwest and looking for a physician who takes a whole-person approach, I do see patients (including virtually) at Tri-State Health in Clarkston, Washington.
-
It means I look at the whole person, not just the diagnosis. If you're being treated for depression but nobody has checked your thyroid, your hormones, or your gut health, something is being missed. Holistic doesn't mean anti-science. It means I'm not satisfied with a 15-minute appointment and a prescription when there are more questions worth asking.
-
No. I don't accept payment from supplement companies to feature their products, and I'm not interested in that model. What you'll find here are products I personally use and have researched.
