How I Became an Integrative Doctor
ABOUT DR. ELINA CHERYNYAK
I was born in Moscow and spent a lot of time in the countryside of Ukraine as a little girl. Amidst the remote rural landscape with no access to any hospitals or clinics, I witnessed how local healers extracted the natural properties of herbal medicine while providing care to anyone who needed help. Observing and learning from the local healer about the power of nature inspired a passion to take care of others.
I immigrated to the US as a young woman where I was able to bring my dreams to reality. I learned the science behind the wisdom of nature. I studied chemistry, microbiology and then went to medical school to close the gap and have the best of both worlds, Nature and Science.
Today, I’m always driven by a desire to make a difference in someone’s life. Nothing gives me more pleasure than to inspire and witness people overcoming obstacles and becoming the best version of themselves. I’m part of that effort as much as you are. While we can not control all aspects of what life has in store for us, we can protect and care for ourselves to the best of our abilities and circumstances.
I’m looking forward to joining you to be the best version of yourself.

I’ve spent my career building a bridge between two worlds: rigorous, evidence-based medicine on one side, and a deeper, more integrative understanding of health on the other. That's what it means to be a true holistic health provider.

Questions People Ask Me
-
Integrative medicine means I look at the whole person, not just the symptom in front of me. A conventional visit might address what's showing up on your labs today. As a doctor of integrative medicine, I'm also asking why it's showing up, whether it's connected to your hormones, your gut, your stress levels, or something else that's been overlooked. I still use conventional medicine where it's the right tool.
-
Fair question. The supplement world is full of noise. Everything I recommend on this site is something I've researched myself and use in my own practice. I'm not paid to promote brands, and I'm not interested in trends. If something's listed here, it's because I think it's genuinely useful, and I'll always explain why.
-
Absolutely. This site exists as a resource, full stop. Whether or not you're ever a patient of mine, my hope is that the content here helps you understand your own health a little better and gives you some practical, trustworthy direction.
-
Please do. Everything here is meant to help you ask better questions and advocate for yourself. It does not replace the relationship you have with your own healthcare provider. If something you read here sparks a conversation at your next appointment, that's great!
